REPUT

Performed by : TuLanG featuring Farah Asyikin
Composed by : Zainal Zulia
Sajakiri International

Mungkin ini kali yang pertama ku terdengar suara halus
Membisik namaku sehalus bayu yang bertiup

Mungkin kali ini tak dapatku bezakan mimpi atau sedar
Apa yang kupasti aku masih lagi terdengar

Jangan tinggalkanku, aku kesepian
Aku keseorangan, dalam kedukaan

Cari-cari mencari apa yang kucari akupun tak pasti
Mencari semangat diri aku yang telah hilang

Kepadamu, kemenyeru, kemerayu
Pergilah dikau jauh dariku

Dengar rintihanku, dengar rayuanku
Jangan tinggalkanku, aku kesepian

The Song

The rhythm inspired from Butterfingers's, "Daulat Tuanku". I wrote this song using a 'programmed' marching tempo, from my 10-years keyboard Yamaha PSR-320, pattern no 87.

I purposely attempted to write an 'odd' song, after have written so many 'standard pop rock song'. Just for the sake of art & creativity.

The Lyric

The inspiration derived from my rented house in Taman Tun Dr Ismail, back in 2004. After we live there for about 8 months (peacefully), someone told me(unintended) the house used to be a crime scene, when the previous owner committed suicide by hang himself in one of the room (probably mine!), 4 years back.

Lyric wise, i imagined entrapped body of the dead (of a beautiful woman), buried alive, underground, beneath of a flour a house. And the soul haunt U, whenever U enter the house!

The Recording

We recorded the song at Rafik Konsep Studio in 2005. Farah Asyikin, who just finished her competition in Malaysia Idol (she was in Top 3), willingly sang the song as a favour of a friend. Thank U Farah. I remembered how she asked me after listening the demo. "Lagu pebenda ni Nal?"

JD also appreciate the arrangement by quoting,
"Interesting arrangement and instrumentation you got going on there.... Unique, creative :)".

Tribute to Yasmin Ahmad

"I am optimistic and sentimental to the point of being annoying, especially to people who think that being cynical and cold is cool. Everyday, I thank Allah for everyday things like the ability to breathe, the ability to love, the ability to laugh, and the ability to eat and drink." - yasmin ahmad, from her blog.

"i myself think i'm so bodoh that i usually don't bother to interpret anything in a film. i just look for aspects of humanity which may mirror me in an honest way. in short, i just sit back and dengar cerita. kalau nangis, nangis lah. kalau ketawa, ketawa lah. i watch films like a child would. i don't care how much subtext or semiotics or dramatic ironies or whatever the filmmaker put into into his shot, if he failed to move me, he failed." ~ yasmin ahmad, 8 oct 2006

Real artist thinks with his/her heart, not mind.

The Tao of Warren Buffet

"Rule No. 1 : Never lose money
Rule No. 2 : Never forget rule No. 1."

The great secret for getting rich is getting your money to compound for U, and the larger sum U start with, all the better. As an example : RM100,000 compounding at 15% for 20 years, which gives U a profit of RM1,636,653 in 20 years, which gives U a profit of RM1,563,653. But let's say U lost RM90,000 of your initial capital before U even started and could only invest RM10,000. Your investment would then only grow ro RM163,665. This is much smaller number. The larger the amount of money U lose, the greater the impact on your ability to earn money in the future. That is something Warren has never forgotten. It is also the reason why he drove an old VW Beetle long after he was a multimillionaire.
